Angelika turned her passion into her job. She is a freelance food writer, recipe developer, photographer and videographer based in Berlin. Over the past years, she made it her mission to unveil the rich tapestry of global flavors. Rooted in her childhood spent in the German countryside with resourceful grandparents, she learned early on that food is precious and an indelible link to culture and people.
Her wanderlust has led her through 93 countries, where she has immersed herself in local kitchens, soaking up the traditions and stories behind each recipe. Her own journey resonates with those who also believe that food is a journey itself, that recipes don’t know any borders but that they can be a passport to cultures and a bridge connecting minds and hearts across the globe.
From a background in journalism, radio, documentary filmmaking, to a decade in the travel industry, she has come to appreciate that food is more than just sustenance—it's a narrative that speaks a universal language.
Arlene loves food and travel but most of all she loves meeting people. She has an uncanny ability to collect friends wherever she goes, which means she usually can find a cozy bed and a good meal. She’s traveled to over 46 countries and been as far north as Svalbard. Restaurants, food and wine have been her career and her passion - which allowed her to create Canada’s largest hospitality networking symposium - Terroir. She loves farming and is constantly pursuing ways to help people become knowledgeable about food systems. She enjoys reading about food history & culture and never turns down an invitation to a good party. Today she lives in Berlin with her family, continuing to meet new people and enjoys urban exploring on foot.
